Open Water Diver

This course teaches the new diver basic independent diving skills: 

  • how to assemble and disassemble your gear and equipment 

  • how to gain confidence wearing and using it on the surface and underwater 

  • how to practice buoyancy

  • how to respect the undersea environment

 

Open Water Certification Student Expectations:

With our convenient eLearning package, you will have the ability to complete the required knowledge reviews and quizzes, as well as take the final exam online through the PADI or NAUI app on your mobile phone (or on the PADI or NAUI website from a desktop computer). Once you complete the self-paced online training, contact us to schedule the required confined water dives where you will practice and master skills before going to the ocean for four open water dives.

If preferred, you can also learn at your own pace using the hard copy Open Water diver manual for study and completion of all required quizzes and tests. You will then schedule in person reviews of the material and required dives with an instructor. 

Once the self-guided materials are completed, the open water dive requirements can be completed in one weekend. Upon completion of all knowledge reviews, quizzes, confined water, and open water dives you will become a PADI certified Open Water Diver.

Ope Water DIver

Discover Scuba Diving

Designed for the uncertified diver, our Discover Scuba Diving/Introduction to Scuba experience teaches basic skills on the surface and underwater, followed by an entry-level dive.  The PADI/NAUI professional will take the student on a guided dive so they can explore a local dive site under the safety of a professional dive instructor.

If the diver chooses to proceed with the open water certification course this dive will count toward open water dive 1 for that course!!

Discover Scuba Diving Student Expectations:

The student will receive a briefing of the dive site layout and instruction on the basic safety skills they will need to demonstrate before the dive. The student will demonstrate skills again in the water to the instructor to ensure safe diving.

Discover Scba Diving
Advaned Open Water Diver

Advanced Open Water Diver

Continue your diver education and expand your horizons by building on skills learned during your open water course. The advanced open water certification course focuses on diving to greater depths. You will practice underwater navigation skills with an opportunity to choose one of three adventure dives.  After the completion of Advanced Open Water you will be able to dive to a maximum of 130 feet. 

 

Prerequisites: 

PADI (Junior) Open Water certification or equivalent from another recognized organization.  10 and 11 year olds may only receive a Junior Adventure Diver certification.

NAUI age minimum is 15 years by the water phase of the course. (Junior certification for ages 10-14 years is allowed.  Certification as a NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver or the equivalent is required.

Advanced Open Water Student Expectations: 

​​

  • Completion of advanced open water study material for required and elective dives

  • Deep Dive (mandatory dive)

  • Underwater Navigation (mandatory dive)

  • Night or low visibility (for NAUI)

  • Three additional dives of your choosing (for PADI)

​

Confined water training is not mandatory for Advanced Open Water students. The student can expect all dives to be completed in the open ocean. 

​

All dives completed during the PADI Advance Open Water course can count toward an associated PADI specialty if the student chooses to pursue PADI specialty courses in the future.

​

Provided to Student:   

Tanks and weights can be provided. Gear can be rented from us or the student can bring their own gear. Call for pricing of rental gear.

Upon completion of Advanced Open Water Diver course with us you will receive a unique Kraken Marine Divers of Honolulu "Advanced Open Water Certified" poker chip!

All gear if not renting from us, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, drinks, and snacks.  For knowledge reviews, the student will need to bring their Advanced Open Water book and dive slate. For the dives, the student will need all gear (or rental gear if coordinated prior to open water dives), the dive slate and compass.

Rescue Diver and Emergency First Response

Learn to respond to different diver scenarios and truly test advanced diving skills. 

​

The student will learn:

  • how to identify and respond to divers in distress

  • how to aid and treat unresponsive divers 

  • EFR Primary and Secondary Care training to identify, respond to and treat different injuries and scenarios

  • Basic CPR

​

Prerequisites: 

​

PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver certification. EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months (this training can be completed along with the rescue diver course). 

​

With the Rescue Diver crew pack (paper manuals) the student will receive the Rescue Diver Manual, diving management workslate, and EFR CPR mask. 

​

Minimum Age : 15/12 (12 to 14-year-old divers may earn the Junior Rescue Diver certifications)

​

Provided to Student:

Tanks and weights if needed. Rental gear available upon request. 

​

Upon completion of Rescue Diver with us, you will receive a unique Kraken Marine Divers of Honolulu Rescue Diver poker chip!

Rescue Diver

Divemaster

Take the first step in your professional career as a PADI certified Divemaster. 

​

Prerequisites: 

​

PADI Advance Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications.

​

Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months.

​

40 Logged scuba dives when the course begins.

​

Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within  12 months. 

 

Minimum Age : 18/15,

Divmaster

ReActivate

Already a certified diver but haven’t been diving in a while? Are you looking to brush up on skills that you mastered but want a refresher on? Take this in lieu of a full Open Water certification. You will go over skills learned during the Open Water course in either a confined water or open water environment with a PADI/NAUI professional.

​

Prerequisites:      Open Water certification or an entry level diving certification from another organization with a minimum of four open water training dives.

​

Minimum age: 10 years old

​

What you will get:  One tank confined water or open water (shore) dive with a PADI/NAUI certified instructor. Tanks and weights are provided. Gear rental is available if required at an additional cost.
